Saturday, 1st June NO DARK PLACES FESTIVAL Utilising the entire 7000sqm grounds of The Albert, Sinema City presents a highly eclectic programme featuring over 20 genre-defying acts, with free daytime access to comics/zine fair and workshops from 11am onwards. From midday, an empty swimming pool will be turned into the “Lagoon” stage, which will play host to sonic experiences ranging from experimental Javanese Gamelan to the playful psyche freakout of Orchestra Elastique. At the “Pitch” stage outside, the casual festival punter will be confronted with a mixture of space jazz ensembles and complex yet uplifting polyrhythms. To our excitement The Alternative Press Fair will be hosting a room of underground comics and self-publications, which will happen alongside letterpress printing and illustration workshops hosted by Studio Mothership and Animaux Circus. There'll also be plenty of street food and tropical refreshments. From 8pm onwards the centrepiece of No Dark Places will unfold in the shape of a Mega Hypno-Rhythmic Party. With vintage liquid lanterns and op-art projections provided by Innerstrings Psychedelic Lightshow, a hugely excitable line-up of some of the UK's finest and most ecstatic will be intertwined with otherworldly hypnotic grooves from the depths of the within With a total love for all music that is made with genuine convictions and a real desire to reach out, Sinema City runs specially curated parties that are celebrations of unique visions, sheer musicianship and the life-affirming exhilaration of partying.
