EXIT MAP invites you to HERE NOW
A performance event

Exploring notions of impermanence and the nature of change, HERE NOW will be a week-long work of live, interdisciplinary improvisation, featuring 8 artists from various genres including live art, theatre, dance, visual arts and music.

Over the course of five days, these artists will inhabit a space, collaborating for 8 hours per day to create an immersive experience that challenges the traditional performer-spectator roles and allows the audience to observe and directly influence the live creative act.

For 4 hours of each day, the space will open its doors to the public and invite you to immerse yourself in the ever-changing landscape of HERE NOW; where distinct art forms merge and collide, generating an unpredictable and continuously evolving experience that asks the question; what is possible, in this moment, in this place, here and now?

Tuesday 12th 2pm - 6pm
Wednesday 13th 4pm - 8pm
Thursday 14th 2pm - 6pm
Friday 15th 2pm - 6pm
Saturday 16th 4pm - 8pm

Ticket prices per day
(suggested donation)
£5 and £3 concession

Also
We invite you to our crowd funding campaign. This project is entirely based on support in kind. To ensure that artists and their work can be of the highest standard we are asking a small donation - when given by many little can do a lot. Lots can do lots more :)
Click here to give a donation.

However, no matter what we hope to welcome you to our event,
to see you and to perform for and with you!

"While poverty persists there is no true freedom. Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.

"And overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. Massive-poverty and obscene inequality are such terrible scourges of our times - times in which the world boasts breathtaking advances in science, technology, industry and wealth accumulation - but they rank alongside slavery and apartheid as social evils."

'The Ottis Redding' – a show about Weddings
 with Dog Kennel Hill Project

YOU are invited to participate in an exciting new community performance project
WE are looking for enthusiastic and open-minded people who want to collaborate on devising and performing a theatrical fictitious wedding event.

We're inviting participation in a series of workshops in the weeks of 18th and 25th March to form a makeshift community theatre group, leading to a public performance on the 28th March.

Weddings; do you love them or loathe them?
Here is a chance though story telling, role play and re-enactment to explore the various roles you may have played out at weddings, or create the role you always wanted to play perfectly but somehow never got the chance. The group will be directed to create scenes involving high entertainment, uplifting speeches, moments of tension and messiness, and of course a choreographed wedding dance!

Times of workshops tbc. You do not need to attend all the workshops, but some level of commitment will be outlined.

Movement and Body Awareness Workshops For the Over 60s

These is a free series of four workshops that aimed at the over 60s but anyone interested is welcome to come along. The intention is to create an awareness and understanding of how our bodies function through simple and gentle exercises, where everyone is free to do as much or as little as they can. Aging changes our relationship with our bodies and it often starts to become problematic as years of wear and tear leave their marks. We will try and look at the body from a new angle and hopefully discover a joy in movement and a respect for our bodies and what they can do.

The workshops will take place in the sports hall at the Albert, a new community centre at 5 Albert road. All sessions will run from 11am to 2pm with a 45 minute break. Food, snacks and hot drinks are available from the Albert Café or feel free to bring your own. Comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement are recommended.

. Thursday 21st March
The Body Fragmented
We will be looking at the different parts that make up our body in isolation; how they move, stretch and bend. Also, we will look at what kind of movements we use in everyday life and attempt to find ways of moving that we might not have tried before.

2. Thursday 28th March
Motion and Body Space
With our first session in mind we will bring the parts together, coordinating the them and setting the whole body in motion. We will also look at the space immediately around our bodies, what Rudolf Laban called the kinesphere.

3. Thursday 4thApril
Sounds and Rhythms of the Body
We will listen to the sounds our body makes when still and in everyday movements. We will also look at what other kind of sounds we could make and explore the significance of rhythm and repetition.

4. Thursday 11th April
The Body Interacting With Objects
With simple props we will be looking at how we can extend or change the capabilities of our bodies.

Age group: over 60
Number of places: 15
Cost: free
